I teach modern watercolour and brush lettering workshops. I teach one-to-one classes from my home studio and have worked with brands including Etsy and Stylist Magazine to provide workshops for promotional and corporate events. One on One Sessions

As well as teaching group classes and workshops Emma is available for one on one mentoring. Prices start from £150 an hour and the session can take place in person in North London, or via Skype. The session includes a detailed overview of your website and social media presence, with suggestions for improvements and changes that could be made, help realising which areas of illustration your work might be best suited to and advice on growing your business and where to focus your time and energy. The workshop will focus on developing skills and applying techniques allowing you to grow in confidence and start to develop your own style. This workshop is appropriate for both total beginners and those with some watercolour experience.The workshop will start with a colour mixing demonstration allowing you to become familiar with the paint and different effects that can be created. Then you'll learn how simple brush strokes can be used to create leaves, flowers and stems and how these can be ranged to create floral motifs.

*You will be given a complete set of materials which you can take away after class, including guide sheets, paper, brushes and a set of Windsor and Newton watercolours.

* We'll start with colour theory, colour mixing and exercises to practice making simple shapes and brush strokes.

* You'll then work on a final piece, sketching and painting from life, with plenty of hands on guidance and encouragement from the tutor. By the end of the workshop you'll be well on your way to developing your own unique watercolour style.

Beginners Gouache Workshop

This Beginner's Gouache Workshop is taught by illustrator Emma Block. The workshop will focus on developing skills and applying techniques allowing you to grow in confidence and start to develop your own style. The workshop will start with a demonstration allowing you to become familiar with the unique properties of gouache and different effects that can be created. You'll then have plenty of time to practice mixing colours, experimenting paint effects and build confidence using the medium. In the second half of the workshop we'll move onto sketching from life and composing a piece, using the techniques we've learnt and thinking about composition and colour palette.

*You will be given a complete set of materials which you can take away after class, including guide sheets, paper, a brush, a palette and a set Windsor and Newton Gouache worth RRP £40.

* We'll start with colour theory, colour mixing and exercises to practice making simple shapes and brush strokes.

* You'll then work on a final piece, sketching and painting from life, with plenty of hands on guidance and encouragement from the tutor. By the end of the workshop you'll be well on your way to developing your own unique painting style.

Light refreshments and all necessary materials are provided.
