Children’s Book Illustration

An illustration of a woman and a child hugging, with the woman kneeling and their heads touching, against a pink background.

I am a children’s book illustrator known for my distinctive, hand painted mixed media style that feels both contemporary and deeply nostalgic. I draw on my own childhood memories, as well as the experience of seeing the world through my son’s eyes, to create illustrations that capture the magic of childhood.

My hand painted illustration style has evolved over many years of experimentation, play and sketchbook practice. I often use mixed media as it’s so versatile and expressive, perfect for children's book illustration. I sometimes often use vibrant liquid watercolours to bring scenes to life with fresh zingy colours, while pan pastels let me to create soft, atmospheric effects that add a sense of magic and wonder. I also love using gouache, coloured pencils, neocolor pastels and watercolours. My desk can be quite the mess after a painting session!
